Electric Garden Workshop at Creative Coding Utrecht #2
> 05 April 2025
︎This was a second part of the Electric Garden Workshop at Creative Coding Utrecht, focusing on the electronics aspect of the project. An afternoon of foraging useful components from discarded electronics, and building energy-harvesting circuits that power motors and microcontrollers through energy from the mud cells.
︎ The mud cells we used to power the circuits were the ones made in the first session, two weeks ago. The cells were brewing for those two weeks of waiting time, the electrogenic bacteria were multiplying within the containers of wetland mud and electrodes.
︎The workshop series covers building the biological energy source from scratch, theory of microbial fuel cells and energy-harvesting circuits, foraging electronics, building circuits, and powering electronics through these circuits from mud-power. The workshop ended with a discussion on the topics of care, circularity, regenerative energy, labour, art, ecology and collective-making.
